New print and greeting card available in my shop

These last few days have been so warm we already feel like summer! I even got out my sandals. It is crazy to think a few weeks ago I still had my winter jacket on.

Anyway, today I would like to show you the new print and greeting card available in my Etsy shop! The idea comes from an image I saw yesterday, and it totally inspired me to make an illustration and a pattern from a poppy flower field. I hope you like it!

You can find the art print here, and the greeting card here.

And as a bonus, here is a preview of next month free desktop wallpaper! I would totally see it as a wallpaper in the entrance of my house, or as a fabric for a scarf for example (more on this at some other time)!

New branding for a children’s distribution agency

This month has been the month of branding projects, as I would like to show you a completed one today, and I just started on another very nice one.

Jessica contacted me to create the branding for her new ditribution agency specialized in children’s small brands and makers from Europe, to make them known in Canada. She wanted something colorful but professional at the same time, handmade and geometrical.

I hope you like it!

New Work: Branding for Eleusis & Mégara

A while ago, the sweet Laetitia from Eleusis-megara.fr contacted me to refresh her lifestyle blog. I was really thrilled when her email mentioned ‘watercolor’, ‘all-over pattern’, ‘forest inspiration’, etc. We worked hand in hand to create a new identity for her blog that is green, fresh and less ‘girly’. I leave you here with the result. What do you think?

New Work: L’Artisan Confiturier, Illustrated Jam Packaging

A few months ago, a lovely client from the US wrote me because she was interested in my patterns for her new brand of jams. I was very excited about this project, as painting fruits and packaging design are two things I really enjoy!

I also had fun making these posters for each taste. I hope you like them!

Tutorial #2: How to make a repeat pattern in Photoshop

how to make a repeat pattern in Photoshop

Hi everyone!

It has been a while I am thinking about showing here the process I take to make a repeat pattern, but today is the day I am finally taking the time to do it. I decided to make a floral-leafy pattern, Below you can find the steps I took to get to this result:

Screen Shot 2015-02-28 at 20.29.18

1. Here are the various loose flowers I made with watercolor.
Screen Shot 2015-02-28 at 19.57.39

2. Select one by one the drawings you want to keep with the lasso and copy them all into a new document, preferably square (mine is 5000 x 5000px). I made it huge because I always scan my drawings at 600 dpi; I can always make it smaller later.

3. Move the elements around in order to make a composition you are happy with. It doesn’t have to fill the square (you will see why in the next step).

4. Group all the loose elements together with CMD + G or CTRL + G.

5. Duplicate the group you just made by dragging and dropping the group onto the new layer icon.

6. Select one of the two groups and press CMD + E or CTRL + E or go to Layer > merge layers and make the other group invisible.

7. Select the active layer and go to Filter > Other > Offset. If your layer size was like mine 5000 x 5000 px, enter 2500 and 2500 as values for horizontal and vertical.

8. You now have a cross in the middle, that you will have to fill with other loose elements to make the pattern seamless. I don’t like to fill the square until the edges too much, because the smaller the cross you have to fill later, the more the chances you will have for the ‘seam’ to show. I hope this makes sense!!

Now, make this layer 30% opacity, and make the other group visible again, so you can differentiate which flowers are on which layer.

9.  Now, you can organize the elements as you want to make the pattern harmonious. Watch out now not to put any element out of the square. I like this method, because you can see if you have two of the same elements next to each other.

10. We are almost done. Now, increase the opacity of the merged layer back to 100%.

11. To finish, you can go to Edit > Define pattern. Give it a name and save it.

12. You can now try it in a new document.

13. Create a new layer and fill it in white (Use the paint bucket tool (G)  or press Shift + Delete).

14. Double-click on the layer you just created to add a new layer style.Screen Shot 2015-02-28 at 18.31.01

15. Click on the pattern window and you will be able to choose the new pattern you defined. By default, it shows up at 100%, so very big in my case.

16. You can now adjust the scale you want for your surface!Screen Shot 2015-02-28 at 20.33.35

And we are all done! I hope you liked it! If you are doing it another way, or if you know some tips to do it more efficiently, don’t hesitate to share it in the comments!

Free desktop wallpaper #2

Here comes the second round of free desktop wallpaper! I wanted something fresh and fruity this time, to add some bright colors to the winter. I hope you like them. Also, I am preparing a new tutorial on how to make a repeat pattern, taking my lemon pattern as example. I will release it soon!

In the meantime, you can download and enjoy your wallpaper for desktop or smartphone here! I would be curious to know which one you prefer and what would you like as a subject for a next wallpaper freebie! Let me know in the comments.

12 months of patterns

There it is, the calendar I designed in the past weekend with the patterns I made over the past few months. Originally, it was going to be only a present for my dad, but I ended up printing many more sets for my friends, as a way to wish them a Happy New Year in a special way. I enjoyed a lot the process of making this calendar, and I might work on an English version in order to sell it in my Etsy shop. I would love to know if some of you would be interested!DSCF5628DSCF5657DSCF5658DSCF5664DSCF5661DSCF5662DSCF5663DSCF5665DSCF5666 DSCF5632 DSCF5634DSCF5630 DSCF5636 DSCF5639DSCF5640 DSCF5643 DSCF5644 DSCF5646 DSCF5647 DSCF5650  DSCF5651-02
